Meet Elena - Customer Success Manager

Welcome to Maritime Optima Elena. Tell us a little bit about yourself?

Thank you. I came to Oslo in 2019. Originally I am from Russia and grew up in Moscow. I love to travel, learn other cultures, meeting new folks and trying new things. I also lived in Japan for two years, which was an absolutely amazing experience! I still remember Japanese a little and miss Japanese sweets.

Speaking about hobbies, I especially like to travel in the nordic countries, explore the mountains, and hike. In my free time I learn Norwegian, hike somewhere taking pictures, and occasionally paint with oil or water colours.

Before I moved  to Oslo, I had been to Norway as a tourist many times. I fell in love with its nature immediately, so moving here was the question of time :)

Tell us a little bit about your background? Your education? What are your interests? What have you been doing before you joined Maritime Optima?

I studied Economics and Business Management in Saint Petersburg State University of Economics. After graduation I started to work in the travel industry as it felt an absolutely natural thing to do. Since then I have worked with Scandinavian market and sent hundreds of happy tourists to Norway. I took care about travel logistics and bookings, negotiated with hotels and incoming tour operators, and worked in the sales and marketing department.
Before joining Maritime Optima team, I also worked in a Norwegian travel company here in Oslo as a marketing manager. 

However, as much as I like travel business, I feel it is time to change the field and explore something new. Maritime Optima seems to be the right place for me. I will leave travelling for a hobby  😊

What will be your responsibilities in Maritime Optima?

I will be working as a Customer Success Manager. My main responsibility is to take care about our clients and make sure that they will get the best experience ever. I have always been working with clients quite closely, and I know how extremely important customer support is. I will expand the client base, onboard new customers, help with the marketing and sales strategy and share our voyage on Social Media.

Why did you find Maritime Optima interesting? 

It is a young and very promising company, and I see a great potential here. The team and management has solid experience with working in a startup and they know the market and  what to expect. On this stage we have a chance to create something really unique, something big, and who knows where this road will lead us? It will be an amazing adventure! 

Also since I was a child I was fascinated by sea and ships, and now I have the opportunity to know this maritime world better. I am learning a lot about the industry and how shipping logistics works.

What do you think a tech start-up needs to do or have in order to be a successful company?

I think that the right team is a key to everything. The company needs a motivated team, who is eager to learn and not scared easily from the first bump on the road. I believe that it needs talented people who believe in the idea. And a good leader as well! It is important to see the strategy, learn from your mistakes and really love what you do.
